10 Quiet Ways to Encourage your Son

People of all ages need encouragement daily, but children especially strive from encouragement. There are various ways to encourage others. Sometimes, for kiddos it is best to use quiet forms of encouragement, to avoid distraction.

So, the next time your son is ready for a bit of encouragement, here are some quiet ways to let him know what a great job he is doing.

10 Quiet Ways to Encourage Your Son

#1. Pat on the Back

When you walk by your son as he is sitting at the kitchen table, working ever so diligently on his homework, give him a quick pat on the back. This is to let him know that you are proud of his work.

#2. High Five

Everyone loves high fives. Give your sweet boy a high five when he is in need of a boost of encouragement. Boys especially love high fives. Of course, this one may come with a little noise.

#3. Thumbs Up

A single thumbs up, or even two thumbs up, is sure to let your little guy know what a great job he is doing. Boys love getting thumbs up, so let this be a quiet way in which you encourage your son.

#4. Hand Make or Print off an Award

There is nothing like a personalized, homemade or printed award. Surprise your son with a handmade award for the Number One World’s Greatest Son! If you’re not good at the homemade stuff, printing one out is more than okay. (Find one here!)

#5. Give Him a Big Smile

Sometimes a simple smile from mom or dad is all it takes to encourage your little man. A big smile goes a long way, plus you will most likely get a big smile in return.

#6. Quiet Dance

A quick, quiet, and special dance across the kitchen floor, while your bud is working on something, will show him just the right amount of love to keep him motivated.

#7. Wink

Need I say more, for this one? A wink is just a fun way of showing your son a quiet piece of affection. Winks can mean a lot, even a bit of encouragement.

#8. Handshake or Fist Bump

What little guy does not love having a secret handshake? Create a personal handshake that only you and your son know. Your son not getting the secret handshake? Hit him up with a fist bump, to show him a bit of encouragement, he’ll love that.

#9. Grab a Sticker

All kiddos love stickers. Get some stickers with your son’s favorite character, animal, or vehicle and stick it on his shirt when he is not expecting it.

#10. Note or Drawing

A short and sweet note can go a long ways. If your little guy cannot read yet, no worries. Just draw a cute picture, or even a great big smiley face, and he will get the “picture.”
