These Butterfly Snack Bags are the perfect way for kids to eat a healthy snack.  These snack bags are perfect for lunchboxes, parties or just for fun!

The new school year is just a few short weeks away. Can you believe it? I spotted school supplies at Walgreens already this week and before you know it, we’ll see Christmas stuff popping up in stores! 😱

With the new school year just around the corner comes school supply shopping. Every year it seems to get earlier and the list longer and longer.  In addition to school supplies, many of us will probably be looking for fun snacks to throw in the lunchbox too – am I right?

Fun snacks can make a world of difference, especially with the kids who might be starting Kinder 😉  I happened to be going through bins of clothes this past week and came across a dress of mine from my first day at Kinder – almost 40 years ago. It brought back so many memories. One of the best memories was the treats my mom would sneak in my lunchbox through those first few weeks…

It really does help ease the transition when everything is so new and unfamiliar.

These cute Butterfly Snack Bags are perfect for a young child – and quite easy to make, too!  Personalize with your own choice of snacks and make a bunch at a time.

You could even whip these up for birthday parties or gatherings – even a Sunday School class!

Butterfly Snack Bags

These snack bags are super simple to put together and require just a handful of items that you probably already have at home!

  • Sandwich bags
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Small jewels for eyes
  • Black sharpie marker
  • Glue
  • Tape

You can make your bags with an assortment of items – strawberries, blueberries, crackers or even veggie straws. If you prefer raisins, go for it! They would work well too!

Use a pipe cleaner to evenly divide the sandwich bag into two sections. Wrap it a few times around the center, leaving the two ends facing up. Slightly curl the ends.

Open the sandwich bag and place fruit into one side of the bag. Place veggies, crackers, chips or another snack of your choice in the other side. Close the bag.

Take the top flap of the string cheese and fold it back. Tape to secure it in place. This will give the butterfly a rounded top.

Glue two jewels on for eyes, then draw a smile on with the sharpie.

Isn’t he just adorable?!  Admire your work, he’s just as cute as ever! 😘😍

Finally, attach the “body” of the butterfly to the “wings” by placing the string cheese right over the center of the bag of snacks, and use a long piece of tape to secure the cheese in place.
