Hi Sheryl..heads up I saw a show on CNN about crib bumpers. Apparently there have been deaths recently from children gettin stuck up against or choked by the bumpers. I dont have a crib, never have, my kids co-sleep with us. Then again, many people say that’s bad too. Either way I really dont pay attention to the news on those stories, they’re always negatively focused. I have had my kids co-sleeping since they were born – I just dont do cribs.
A lot of that safety stuff is common since parenting I think. We always used a wedge to keep baby in place until he could roll over on his own. Plus I’d rather have it there than an arm or leg get stuck in b/t the bars….but to each his own…
The bumper thing is old news, they’ve always said that bumpers are dangerous. But..bumpers come with crib bedding sets so you can’t really control that, unless you buy them pieces individually.
We took our daughters bumper out and purchased the breathable bumper from Amazon – love it. This way she can’t get her legs/arms stuck between the slats but if she does end up face planted against it she can still breath and will not suffocate.
Now they are saying not to use the sleep positioners either.
My g-friend raised her kids sleeping on their bellies, I raised mine sleeping on her back.
Either way, it’s an adorable set for $14.99 – sheets/blankets alone cost that…..so great find!!!!!!
