10 Ways to Maximize your Ibotta Redemptions

Do you use Ibotta? If you read our site regularly, you’ll know that we often talk about Ibotta & post frequent deals for you to score in many popular stores to include Walmart, Safeway, Fry’s, CVS & more.

Ibotta is a FUN way to earn cash back on products you regularly buy. From Milk and Produce to Name Brand Items, Restaurants, and Retail Stores, you can earn back money you are spending regularly for itms you are purchasing for your family.

Over the last few years, we have grown to love this App – it’s extremely easy and fun to use.   Since we love it just that much, we wanted to share OUR tips for helping you maximize your Ibotta redemptions…

Offers Can Vary

Scroll through your offers and become familiar with them ~ understand that they MAY vary by store!  What might be offered at Fry’s may not be offered at Safeway. Likewise, a offer at Walmart MAY be exclusive JUST to that store.

Verify Products in the Store

Sometimes the words on the offer can be ambiguous – take this opportunity to verify the individual product barcode in the store BEFORE you buy the item.    Not only will you make sure you have the right item, it’ll save you the heartache just in case you don’t have the right item and you can’t return to the store.

To Verify the item, open up the individual product you intend to purchase, and and click “Verify Product barcode”. If the item is correct, it will show that it’s verified – then you can proceed with your trip.

Be Familiar with the Bonus Offers

Scroll to the Bonus menu option on your app and be aware of the current bonuses – that’s an additional amount you can earn back in addition to the Ibotta offer for that product. 

To find the Bonus offers, open up your Ibotta and use the Bonuses Menu Option.

Scan the Entire Receipt

Just do it… more times than not, your receipt has a bunch of advertising at the bottom – perhaps fuel reward information, and store information.  Once you accomplish the tasks on the item, and verify the receipt, click Redeem.

To redeem by receipt, snap a picture and hit the “+” to continue to snap the full length of the receipt.

Connect your Facebook

FIND other people on Facebook who are active on Facebook who are on Ibotta so that they can join your team. OR, share your referral code on Ibotta with others so that they can join YOUR team.  Having a large team will help you earn those team bonuses a little bit easier.

To connect your Facebook to Ibotta, go to your settings, and click “Connected Accounts” – take that time to connect to Facebook.

Receipts, Receipts, Receipts!

You can use your receipts for cash back on items purchased up to 7 days AFTER you buy the item.  If you buy toothpaste today, HOLD that receipt ~ because 4 days from now, you MIGHT see Toothpaste pop up on your Ibotta app – and if you do, you can submit for cash back.

However… do make sure you check the expiration date of the offer, too – although you have 7 days to submit your receipts, the item expiration may be much sooner.

And make it easy on yourself ~ submit your receipts immediately… then tuck away the paper receipt for 7 days.

Identify your Zip Code in Settings

Take a minute to make sure you have your Zip Code in your settings ~ MANY of the liquor deals available in Ibotta are dependent on geographical location.   To do this, go to your Ibotta app, click on the Wheel in the top right corner, and enter your zip code under ‘Update Profile”.  Remember to save it!

Read the Fine Print

MANY offers have fine print ~ be familiar with that before you buy the item!  The fine print may restrict you to a specific flavor or size… and you want to make sure you are familiar with that fine print before you spend the money purchasing the item.

Contact Them for Help

Stuck in a rut with a UPC that won’t scan?  Or perhaps you bought the right item and the Ibotta app won’t scan to accept the item? Just hit “Contact Us” on the Ibotta app and send them a message – in most cases they will ask you to snap a picture of the UPC. 

They have always been great about returning my messages in 24 hours or less. 

Update your App

Ensure that you check your Apps regularly for NEW updates ~ which can lead to MORE offers and new category earning opportunities.  

As with any app, only buy what you think you will use ~ it’s not a savings if you are buying something that won’t be used at your home.  So be picky – note those offers that you are planning on taking advantage of, and take any of these points, above, in mind when you shop to maximize your savings.

And recently, Ibotta has requested that you update to their latest security feature.

By taking some simple steps to verify your device, you are keeping your account safe with two levels of protection.   Simply add your phone number to your account and confirm your device before you cash out your earnings.
