Gaining Motivation after a Coupon Burnout

Have you ever been in a coupon rut? Or maybe you stopped couponing because it was just too exhausting for you to keep up with clipping when you have a full time job, kids, and basic life in general?

I think most of us have..  I personally go through this every few months. That’s probably why I have changed my shopping habits from how they USED to be a few years ago.

It gets incredibly hard to find time to save when you have children and a family, not to mention a full time job & other obligations.  Just know that you don’t have to use coupons to always get the best deals.

If you ARE in that rut, here are some ways to help pull yourself out of that rut and get back in motion to save some cash.

Check your Pantry.  More than likely you have items sitting on the shelf in the pantry of your kitchen – make a note of what you have, so you at least have a starting point to determine what you need.

Use the Meal Plans. Each week, we formulate a 5-Meal Plan for Fry’s, and one for Safeway – use it. It’s there for a reason. Look for them at the top of the blog.. Fill your cart with the other items you need that you use regularly for lunches, breakfast and more – making sure to use the Grocery matchups or the Weekly Price List.

Ask a friend for Help.  Find a friend who is willing to help you catch back up on the deals you may have missed, or someone who will go in with you together for a source of encouragement.  Join us on Facebook for more encouragement as well.

Shop at ONE Store.. Do the best you can to find the things that you really need to make meals for the week – you’ll save on gas, and you will save yourself time. Use the store matchups on the blog to see where the best deals are at.

Or better yet, just price match at Walmart using our weekly price list, to pick up the essentials.. and visit the $.99 store for other items.

Set Aside A Time Limit Each Day. You don’t have to be glued to the computer all day to coupon successfully – allocate 15 – 30 minutes each day to clip, take notes, and get on the matchups on the blog to find the items you need.If you spend too much time you run the risk of getting frustrated or overwhelmed .. which in turn won’t motivate you to get back into the swing of things.

DON’T Clip – Try to just PRINT instead.  Most of the coupons you get in the paper are also available to print – try your hand at just printing what you need, you can still pick up great deals without the cost of papers. Invest in a low cost Laser printer to cut costs.

Share your Trips on our Facebook page.. people love to see trip pictures, and it will encourage you to be bigger and better next trip. Share your success and not only will you motivate yourself to do another trip, you’ll motivate others too.
