I posted this great opportunity last week – and many of you received it well. Some of you have applied; I applied as well, and today I was assigned a Soldier AND a family. I was so excited……I called Dave to tell him and he ‘s pumped about it as well ;)

Homefront Hero Hugs is a program that allows you to Adopt a Military Family or a Soldier – your job will be to keep their spirits up while their loved one is deployed…or while they are deployed. Adopting a Soldier or Family is a 6 month commitment.
To adopt a Soldier you will need to head HERE to fill out the form – then scan the form or photo it and email to them at adtoptions@HomefrontHugs.org – they have many Soldiers who are in need of being adopted. Adopting a Soldier requires you to send 2 packages a month (they can be small) + 2 cards or letters in between.
To adopt a Family, you must first apply; then send one care package (minimum) monthly- the package must have stress relief goodies within – anything from: Children’s Books, Magazine Subscriptions, Bubble Bath, Candles, Socks – Calendars….. kiddos trinkets or toys and the like.
I plan on sending many of my magazines – and, chapstick, cough drops and many other items we are able to score free. I also plan on sending drink mix and socks….. Thermacare, and other oddities I can dig up here at home. I hope you can do the same as well.
I follow Homefront Hugs on Twitter and over the last few weeks I just thought this was such a neat idea for my kiddos to do – so I’m going to apply for both the family and the Soldier – I have so many items I can send and my kids will love writing to the family.
