Many of you are like me, and every year you send out holiday cards. I do too…. in fact, I do the traditional “letter” about the family too – being from Minnesota it seemed like every family did that when I grew up …
The standard “letter” that told you about what went on throughout the year in that particular family.
But every year I’m always stumped, because although I love buying cards, and sending greetings, I have a budget to maintain. That can be a struggle. There are so many offers out there for photo cards.. but I’m pretty darn cheap (I’ll admit!) To spend over $10 or so on photo cards for me is out of my range.
So what are some ideas for you to get Freapy Cards this year + cheap or free postage? Is it even possible?
- Last year I scored 10 packs of Holiday Letterhead at Target for $0.10 on clearance = $1 for 200 sheets. That should last me the next…. 5 years!
- The Cardstore.com is definitely ay great place to order cards. Every day, you can take their “Surprise Challenge” to get 40, 50 or 60% off cards – today 11/07, you can get 60% off with CSSAVE603 – Postage IS included. Last week, they had 80% off and I got 40 of them for a mere $7.00 including stamps.
- Save up your My Coke Rewards – I just cashed in over 200 points this past week, I managed to get 20 FREE Photo Stamps from Shutterfly for 70 points. Once I have baby, I will have plenty of postage for his birth announcements.

When you say that postage is including when referring to cardstore.com, what do you mean? Do they send you stamps?
They have an option when you check out, if you let them address your envelopes they will put a stamp on each. But it takes a while to upload all your addresses so make sure you do it when you have time!

I used to always get my cards at the dollar store and felt like I was doing my cards “on the cheap”. But I so far have 20 beautiful personalized cards from MyPublisher that I didn’t pay a dime for. I have some blank green cards that I got on clearance at Michael’s and I can use those to do homemade cards for the other perhaps 10 or so I’ll need….unless another freapy deal comes along. As far as stamps go, I bought a TON at Costco ages ago and I’m still using those so my postage is prepaid.
I didn’t used to really do holiday cards, but in the last couple of years, with the kiddos, I’ve started….and since we’ve found some really good deals! Usually can score free ones, like the SeeHere ones. :)
Be on the lookout for coupon codes from Walgreens photo. I always do my cards through them. I think they had a 50%off code last year. The thing is that it generally doesn’t come out until early December so you really have to hurry to get them out.
I got a Vistaprint voucher on a daily deal site and paid $5 for a $50 voucher (I had a $5 credit on my account). I ordered all my custom photo cards (80 I believe?) and my balance due was $2 after applying the voucher, selected 21 day shipping @ $6 so it was $8.xx for 80 custom cards. I got free return labels with a deal you posted (the Erin Condren deal) so all together my holiday cards cost about $13 and they are much higher quality than the Costco cards I used to buy for a lot more! For local friends I will bake them cookies and include the card (no postage) and so my biggest cost will be postage for non-local folks.

you can buy a template on etsy…really reasonable, add your own picture and print them out as prints. we get so many free print deals you could probably score a ton for nothing! i do love giving cards, and i love getting them too!
I got a Nikon camera for my birthday so I put it to good use. I take my kids out to various parks/locations and get fantastic magazine worthy photos. I then look for the free prints codes for cards and photos. This year I have a lot of card stock that was given to me so I am using my circuit ($50 new) to make my own cards.
