The Lava River Cave is just 30 minutes away from Flagstaff, Arizona. The cave itself was formed 700,000 years ago - at that time, molten lava erupted out of nearby Harts Prairie. The cave was founded in 1915 by lumbermen in the area.

DIY: End of Year Teacher Appreciation Gifts

Gifts

25_thumb000

We’re coming up on the end of the school year, and with that…….gifts for teachers. I have to make a few gifts for Wendy’s teachers, next year she’ll be in Kindergarten – which will take the meaning of “school” to a whole new level.

Any ideas?  Plenty of options actually – we always get weekly coupons from Michael’s & JoAnn Fabrics – which I would use to grab one of those cute bags above (upper right) – I love it…….. and not only can you tuck some goodies in there, you can use it again for gardening outside.

Last year, I remember Melissa down in Tucson took the pile of freebies and trial size and made beautiful teacher gifts – 7 in fact!  One for each of her daughter’s teachers:

Teacher gifts under $4 each. Paid $1 for flip flops & bucket (at Family Dollar). Everything else was free or under $1 from Target travel section. Had lotion, scrub, nail file, polish, lip gloss & hand soap.

I love getting things like this…… and I’m sure most teachers would too. You can toss in a gift card for Sonic, McDonalds or even Blockbuster as well.

And what works well too is Vistaprint- normally very expensive, you can get 6 items for roughly $10 shipped – some of those items may be great for the teacher pile as well.

How many of you put together end of year teacher appreciation gifts…..and if you do, what route do you take to make it as affordable as possible?
