Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic peeled, lightly crushed
  • 1 C Dr. Pepper
  • 3/4 C ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 Tbsp molasses
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp cider vinegar or more to taste
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt or more to taste

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a heavy, non-reactive saucepan and gradually bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Reduce the heat slightly; simmer gently until thick and flavored, about 15 minutes. Taste for seasoning, adding additional spices as necessary.
  • Pour the sauce into a clean glass jar and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate, covered, until serving.
  • The sauce will keep for several months in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before serving.
