DIY Lava Lamp Experiment

Equipment

  • mason jar

Materials

  • 1 drop food coloring
  • 1.3 C vegetable oil
  • 1 tablet Alka Seltzer
  • 1/3 C distilled water

Instructions

  • Fill your mason jar 3/4 way with vegetable oil.
  • Mix 1 cup of water with a drop of food coloring.
  • Break 1 Alka Seltzer tablet in half and place in the jar.
  • Pour the blue water into the mason jar, leaving a few inches on top so the jar doesn’t overflow.
  • Watch the colored water act like a lava lamp!
