DIY Easy Leather Cleaner from 2 Household Staples

images

I spent my Friday night cleaning my leather sofa in the living room – and I’m sure many of you have leather.

We moved to leather when we had Wendy (our first child), because, at some point, we knew that having anything with kids would eventually get worn or destroyed. So we figured that we’d invest in something that would last a little longer.

We ran out of the commercial cleaner months ago – and at that time, I put together some easy cleaning with what I had in the house. I got online and discovered you could make cleaner with 2 simple ingredients – two things you probably have in your house right now. I actually cleaned my sofas today since the day is slow – I can’t believe it’s been over 2 months since I cleaned my sofas.

General Leather Cleaner

1/2 C. Vinegar and 1/2 C. Olive Oil

OR……

Some Ivory Soap on a rag, lathered up – should do the trick too.

I have used it now through 3 cleanings and it works great – shake it up, use a rag…… but don’t rub, just buff it on.

It sure doesn’t take pen marks off my sofa but it does pretty good at keeping them looking pretty swell – despite 2 kids that seem to tear them up on a daily.

This is great! Can you see my couch? It totally needs it.

Oh – so did mine. My son had all kinds of FOOD down the sofa. What a mess it was. I always wondered where the last half of his pop tarts went. Now I know.

I’m going to have to try this…Last time I “attempted ” to clean our leather sofas, I used the “leather cleaner” that we purchased from the furniture store. I don’t know what I did wrong, but after I was done, it had white streaks all over it.  Let’s just say hubby said he would do it next time..LOL

And… if there is any left, you can pour it on your salad! :D
